Golf Tourney Update Posted on Aug 31, 2008 Saturday was the Inaugural Corkball Classic. We had a great day for the golf tournament, a good turnout, and a great overall tournament.
It came down to 2 teams at the end finishing -12. Lou Cole Sr. & Lou Jr Jr's team along with Andy Dacey & John Greffet's team. Since we couldn't do a playoff hole to decide the winner it went to the score on the hardst hole on the course. Both teams parred handicapped hole #1 and Cole's team was one stroke better on handicapped hole #2... giving them the title.
Bill Walter's team and John Worcester's team came in at 11 under. Many other teams shot in the low to mid 60's also.
Tony Gogel had a long day with the Hackin' Yanicks to take the Team Duffer award. Tony did his best to carry the team but they still finished 1 over par.
Lou Cole also won closest to the pin on the par 3, 5th hole.
John Greffet won longest drive with a 330 yard or so shot down the middle on #16, his second hole of the day and his shot lasted until the end.
Also, John Worcester closed his eyes and swung and dropped on in for an ace on the 182 yard par 3, 3rd hole. I think everyone on the course heard the yelling from that team.
Thanks to Pat Meyer and Mike Steinfeld for organizing and putting on a great tournament and thanks to Jason Hanneken for manning the grill. Hope to see everyone out next year!
